5 Common CEC Myths Debunked

Myth 1: Part-time work doesn't count. The Reality: It Absolutely Counts! As long as it equals 1,560 hours, it's eligible. The Solution: Ensure your reference letters detail the hours worked per week.

Myth 2: You need continuous, uninterrupted experience. The Reality: Breaks Are Allowed! You can take time off or switch employers. The Solution: Ensure the total cumulative hours meet the 1,560-hour threshold.

Myth 3: Only work on a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) counts. The Reality: Any Eligible Work Permit is Fine! Work performed on an OWP or TFWP is valid. The Solution: Focus on the job duties and NOC code, not the permit type.

Myth 4: You can count work performed while being a full-time student. The Reality: No, This is Ineligible. Work experience gained while you were a full-time student does not count. The Solution: Exclude all hours worked during study terms.

Myth 5: You need a job offer to apply. The Reality: A Job Offer is Optional! CEC candidates do not require a current job offer. The Solution: Focus entirely on maximizing your score based on the experience you already completed.
